Historic Syrian-American Jewish Delegation Visits Damascus for the First Time in Over 30 Years
The Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) is honored to facilitate the first Syrian-American Jewish delegation to visit Syria since the fall of the Assad regime. From February 17–20, 2025, Jewish Syrian-Americans returned to their homeland for the first time in over 30 years, marking a historic step toward reestablishing Jewish life in Damascus.

SETF's role in Syria post-liberation
In partnership with Bahar Organization, SETF has opened a new office in Damascus to support Syria’s historic transition to democracy. For 14 years, we have stood with the Syrian people in their fight for freedom, justice, and humanitarian needs. As Syrians return home after years of displacement, we are working toreunite families, preserve evidence of mass atrocities, and identify victims. With the release of detainees and criminal cases opening for past crimes, Syria is on the path to becoming the first democratic Arab nation. Together, we are building a future of justice, accountability, and hope.
