Syrian Emergency Task Force is seeking a Director of Advocacy for its offices in Washington, DC
Job Description:
Responsible for a significant program of strategy, data collection and analysis, program development, and implementation. Political advocacy: Frequently works with the SETF board and advisory board, and in a global environment with national and international political leadership, national advocates, communications experts, and researchers. Develop and lead the organization’s political advocacy strategy through coordination domestically with all branches of the U.S. government, NGOs, think tanks, and internationally with the EU and European nations, and the United Nations and other NGOs. Produce policy briefings on the situation in Syria. Coordinate with the Research Director in producing relevant research reports aimed at pursuing accountability, political advocacy, and raising awareness of the situation in Syria. Assist in creating, editing, reviewing, and disseminating SETF reports. Produce one-pagers to inform policymakers and key stakeholders on events in Syria and provide policy recommendations. Coordinate with other NGOs to further the mission of SETF. Keep SETF leadership informed of partner organizations’ priorities, events, and areas of potential cooperation. Monitor and disseminate reports from think tanks as appropriate. Coordinate advocacy and policy events domestically and internationally. Manage the advocacy team. Up to 20% of international and domestic travel. Full-time Telecommuting permitted; job can be performed anywhere throughout the U.S.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or the foreign equivalent in International Relations, International Law, Political Science, or a related field, plus 3 months of experience in an international advocacy occupation. The required experience must include the following:
3 months of experience working in a global environment on advocacy and political lobbying, including for the Syrian cause.
Any and all experience may be gained concurrently.
