Mouaz Moustafa
Executive Director
Mouaz Moustafa was born and raised in Damascus, Syria, before moving to the U.S. as a teenager. After graduating from the University of Central Arkansas with a bachelor’s in international relations, Moustafa spent several years working on Capitol Hill as a staffer for Congressman Vic Snyder and Senator Blanche Lincoln. In the fall of 2011, Moustafa joined SETF as the Executive Director to help advocate on behalf of the pro-democracy movement in his native Syria. He meets regularly with world leaders and works closely with the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and Syrian whistleblowers such as the former military photographer “Caesar” and a key eyewitness to mass graves in Syria from 2011-2017 known as “The Gravedigger”, to bring awareness to past and on-going atrocities in Syria.
