WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a pivotal move toward rebuilding Syria’s military institutions, a high-level meeting was held between the Syrian Minister of Defense, Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra, and Colonel Salem Turki Al-Antri, commander of the Free Syria Army. The discussions focused on unifying all military factions under the new Ministry of Defense to strengthen stability and address shared security challenges following the fall of the Assad regime.
The meeting highlighted efforts to consolidate various military forces and restructure them under a unified command to ensure stability during the transitional period. Key discussions included enhancing security coordination to counter ongoing threats, particularly from terrorist organizations that continue to pose risks to Syria’s national security.
The Syria Free Army has been one of the leading factions in the Syrian Revolution, standing against the Assad regime since the early days of the uprising. The group has played a significant role in fighting ISIS for years as a partner force to the International Coalition. This meeting underscores the importance of building a unified Syrian national army to protect civilians and maintain security in liberated areas.
This development represents a major step toward establishing a national military capable of safeguarding Syria’s future and contributing to the country’s reconstruction efforts. It also reflects the Syrian people’s aspirations for a free, democratic nation built on justice and accountability after enduring immense sacrifices for their freedom.
The Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) proudly supports these national efforts and remains committed to assisting initiatives aimed at achieving stability, fostering dialogue, and promoting coordination between various Syrian factions to secure a free and peaceful future for the country, free from tyranny and terrorism.
