This past weekend, the Syrian Emergency Task Force (SETF) team paid a visit to northwestern Arkansas to inform the community of the team’s ongoing efforts to end the suffering in Syria. Team members fielded questions from the crowd, highlighting the impact that SETF has had over the last 10 years and setting the stage for the Northwest Arkansas community to join our mission in building a free, democratic, and peaceful Syria.
The team assembled at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, providing information about the Syrian tragedy and elaborating on SETF’s vital work in the country. As part of the event, team members were given special “friendship bracelets” which matched those of the children currently enrolled at Wisdom House, providing a special link between the two very different communities.
In this effort they were joined by Nicki Stephenson, herself in the process of building an SETF community in northwest Arkansas as director of operations for the region. Nicki joined the team only a few months ago, but has proven a motivated and caring leader in her community-building efforts in Fayetteville and beyond.
Small events like last weekend’s provide us with important chances to connect with the local community, and – more importantly – provide hope to suffering Syrian citizens from across the world.
